Bismack Biyombo has the best rebounding effort in a playoff game in three decades

Even though he didn’t make a single field goal till late in the fourth quarter in Game 3 of the Cavs-Raptors series, Bismack Biyombo was absolutely key to Toronto’s win Saturday night thanks to impressive work on the boards. The Congolese center finished with 26 rebounds, which is the best mark for an NBA player in the playoffs in the last 32 years – tying Hakeem Olajuwon and Dwight Howard.

Of course, that was also the rebouding record in Raptors’ playoff history.

Biyombo, who averaged career-highs 5.5 ppg and 8.0 rpg in the regular season, is filling in more than nicely for the injured Jonas Valanciunas and has put himself in a great position for free agency, where he figures to be one of the most coveted big men.

Twitter was abuzz Saturday night about his terrific game. There were even some Dennis Rodman comparisons out there.
