Terry Rozier's father sees Celtic play after spending much of life in prison

The Boston Celtics’ preseason game on Saturday against the Cleveland Cavaliers had a special meaning to Terry Rozier.

It marked the first time Terry Rozier Sr. was able to watch his 24-year-old son play.

Rozier Sr. spent the first eight years of his son’s life in prison for robbery and was out for only nine months before …

Per the Globe:

… on July 27, 2003, that was all taken away. The elder Rozier and three friends lured a couple to a home to purchase car rims and robbed them. While one of the victims was held at gunpoint, he fought back and the gun discharged, killing one of Rozier’s accomplices, a 17-year-old boy.

Because a person was killed during a crime, Rozier and his two other friends were charged with murder. They ultimately pled guilty to kidnapping and robbery, with a reduced charge of involuntary manslaughter, and in 2005 Rozier was sentenced to 13 years in prison.

Terry Rozier Sr. was released from prison two months ago. He was able to watch his son play in person over the weekend because the Celtics came to Ohio. He cannot leave the state until Oct. 24 because he is on probation.
