Lithuanian Knicks forward Mindaugas Kuzminskas would like to clarify he's not a Soviet citizen

The USSR disappeared in 1991, but still lives in the Knicks’ website, where as of Monday morning rookie forward Mindaugas Kuzminskas was listed as a citizen of the now-defunct country.

Technically, Kuzminskas was born in the USSR in 1989, but of course his nationality is Lithuanian these days. That’s something he made clear on Twitter.

The 6-foot-9 forward is slated to compete at the Olympic Games this summer. In the past three years, he’s won two silver medals at the Eurobasket – both with Lithuania, none with the Soviet Union.
