STAYING: Giannis Antetokounmpo, Michael Carter-Williams, Tyler Ennis, John Henson, Khris Middleton, Greg Monroe, Steve Novak, Jabari Parker, Miles Plumlee and Rashad Vaughn.
ADDED: Malcolm Brogdon (Virginia), Matthew Dellavedova (Cleveland), Thon Maker, Mirza Teletovic (Phoenix) and Jason Terry (Houston).
GONE: Jerryd Bayless (Philadelphia), Damien Inglis, OJ Mayo, Johnny O’Bryant and Greivis Vasquez (Brooklyn)
STRENGTHS: An elite team in terms of athleticism and length – especially the latter … They should be trouble in the open court … An awful lot of talent in the frontcourt … Jabari Parker and Giannis Antetokounnpo both have the potential to make the All-Star Game … No surprise if it happens for the Greek Freak right this year … He has all the tools to become a superstar in this league … The Bucks had quite a low-post scorer in Greg Monroe and a bruiser in Miles Plumlee and added a three-point threat in Mirza Teletovic … They really have a lot to work with at the F/C spots … The versatile Khris Middleton flies under the radar, but has quietly become one of the top young wing players in the NBA … Milwaukee should be a much better rebounding team this season.
WEAKNESSES: Point guard play, which is ironic on a team coached by Jason Kidd … Plainly speaking, Michael Carter-Williams has regressed … Matthew Dellavedova is a solid role player, but probably a better fit with a contending franchise … While Antetokounmpo has obvious point-forward skills, they can’t depend on him to create for others all the time … Turnovers plagued them again last year … Can they alter the pattern? … Not much depth at the wing positions … Monroe has disappointed some in Milwaukee and would reportedly welcome a trade … They have shooters, but probably can’t keep them on the court too much given their shortcomings in other areas of the game … Still a pretty young team that will make mistakes that will translate into losses … Not clear if they are in win-now mode or still in the business of developing its formidable young nucleus … Defense needs improvement … Who’s the leader here?
PREDICTION: 5th in the Central Division, 11th in the Eastern Conference.
