POINT GUARDS / SHOOTING GUARDS / SMALL FORWARDS / POWER FORWARDS / CENTERS
Power Forward / 6-10 / Louisiana State / Freshman
19.2 ppg, 11.8 rpg
Simmons has drawn criticism for not working out for Philadelphia, but in reality it seems that Sixers is the one needing to prove their legitimacy. Granted with the Colangelos now making decisions things can change, but just last year Porzingis would not even meet for an interview, much less a team workout. Simmons has also drawn criticism for being aloof, but he is a premiere franchise talent type that the team has been needing as its cornerstone. If they can't realize that without a workout, maybe Simmons' talents are better suited for Los Angeles. |
Small Forward / 6-9 / Duke / Freshman
17.3 ppg, 6.8 rpg
There are some reports that the team could look to move D'Angelo Russell on draft night for a Top 5 pick. Could swapping Russell for Okafor be a positive, fresh start for both players? Other reports have the Lakers passing on Ingram and taking Buddy Hield after his impressive workout. Look for none of these scenarios to actually happen and the team to add Ingram as the new face of the franchise on Thursday night. |
3. Boston: Buddy Hield
Shooting Guard / 6-4 / Oklahoma / Senior
25.0 ppg, 5.7 rpg
The Celtics continue to field offers for the pick, but ultimately may have trouble getting the value they seek for it. It is a bit of a hot potato pick as no GM wants to make a pick when there are so many evenly talented players to choose from. Going for a long-term upside pick at No. 3 is also risky because of the added pressure placed on going so high. Group think seems to favor Murray over Hield due to his age. But does Murray really have much upside left to develop? |
Power Forward / 6-9 / Washington / Freshman
13.7 ppg, 5.4 rpg
Chriss is one of the biggest boom-or-bust picks of this year's draft. He is likely two years away from contributing anything meaningful. But his combination of length, athleticism and shooting touch has scouts drooling. There's a real chance that Phoenix moves this pick for a veteran. Dunn is also considered a possibility as word has it Rich Paul will push to get Bledsoe out of Phoenix this offseason. |
Point Guard / 6-4 / Providence / Junior
16.4 ppg, 5.3 rpg
Ricky Rubio is just 25 and has improved upon his greatest weakness, his outside shooting. The team may look for more of a combo like Murray if given the option of the two. But Dunn is considered a true point guard and could be seen as an upgrade to Rubio with his superior athleticism. Dunn also came up clean in physicals as some thought his shoulders could trigger red flags. |
Point Guard / 6-5 / Kentucky / Freshman
20.0 ppg, 5.2 rpg
The Pelicans would probably prefer to see Dunn available here, but Murray is a very solid kid with a high floor. There is some optimism that he can develop into a point guard, which he played in high school. But his lack of speed, which makes the CJ McCollum comparisons far-fetched, likely limits him to being a 2 guard. He is a bit longer than some reports have stated as he measured at 8'4.5" in his first year and then a 8'2.5" standing reach in his second year at the Hoop Summit, which is probably more accurate than the 8'1" he measured at the Kentucky Combine. |
7. Denver: Dragan Bender
Power Forward / 7-0 / Maccabi Tel Aviv (Israel) / 1997
2.1 ppg, 1.4 rpg
The Nuggets seem to be Bender's backstop as there's speculation he could go 3 or 4, but more and more chatter has him falling to 7 where Denver, who has a heavy International focus would likely gobble him up. Bender had a rough season, and needs time before he can begin to realize his talent. |
Power Forward / 6-10 / Gonzaga / Sophomore
17.6 ppg, 11.8 rpg
The Kings are in need of a power forward and while there may be a few players that offer more upside, for a team under pressure to produce (Sam Hinkie fleeced them out of a number of future picks), Sabonis makes perfect sense as a guy that can be an instant contributor. His emotional leadership is a big bonus. Vlade is said to love the kid, and happens to be friends with his dad (Arvydas). |
9. Toronto: Jakob Poeltl
Center / 7-1 / Utah / Sophomore
17.2 ppg, 9.1 rpg
Poeltl is well liked by many scouts for his ability to play both ends of the floor and would add depth to the Raptors' frontcourt. It is unclear whether Toronto will be willing to give Biyombo a contract extension as his value on the market is likely higher than his actual value after his amazing Eastern Conference Finals performance. An athletic standout such as Marquese Chriss is another option here if he were to fall, but Poeltl gives them solid value at 9 and depth behind Valanciunas. |
10. Milwaukee: Jaylen Brown
Shooting Guard / 6-7 / California / Freshman
14.6 ppg, 5.4 rpg
Milwaukee is sitting on a pretty good spot to grab whichever player drops. They could easily land a player here that ends up as good as whomever goes third. As a matter of fact, there are reports that Brown or Marquese Chriss could go at 3. And either player could possibly fall to 10 as well. Chriss may ultimately prove too big a long-term play but they would likely be ecstatic to land him. |
11. Orlando: Skal Labissiere
Power Forward / 6-11 / Kentucky / Freshman
6.6 ppg, 3.1 rpg
Orlando and Skal appear to be an excellent fit. The Magic need to add talent and Skal could really surprise given the right set of circumstances. While the Magic already have Aaron Godon, Skal would offer a much-needed shooter to the team and a good compliment to AG. |
12. Utah: Malachi Richardson
Shooting Guard / 6-6 / Syracuse / Freshman
13.4 ppg, 4.3 rpg
No. 12 might be a minor reach for Malachi, but his workouts have been tremendous and he is well-liked for his shooting and upside. He would offer depth to a promising backcourt consisting of Dante Exum, Rodney Hood and Gordon Hayward. |
13. Phoenix: Dejounte Murray
Shooting Guard / 6-5 / Washington / Freshman
16.1 ppg, 4.4 apg
The Washington freshmen duo developed synergy together in college and could grow together at Phoenix. Murray has a green room invite indicating that he will likely be taken somewhere in the lottery (or close). His ability to play either guard position adds intrigue. |
14. Chicago: Deyonta Davis
Power Forward / 6-10 / Michigan State / Freshman
7.5 ppg, 5.5 rpg
Davis didn't work out for any teams outside the top 10, so there's a chance he goes 9 or 10. But if he slides some the Bulls could see value in his upside and take him here. |
15. Denver: Furkan Korkmaz
Shooting Guard / 6-7 / Anadolu Efes (Turkey) / 1997
2.6 ppg, 0.9 rpg
The Nuggets could go in a number of directions with this pick and a trade is always possible. Don't put it past them to go International with all three of their first round picks. Korkmaz needs strength but could ultimately develop into a starting shooting guard in the league. |
16. Boston: Henry Ellenson
Power Forward / 6-10 / Marquette / Freshman
17.0 ppg, 9.7 rpg
There's a good chance that Ellenson will be off the board by this pick. If not, Ellenson gives the Boston frontcourt a potential stretch four to groom for the future. Depending on what they do with their first pick, the power forward position offers a lot of value in this range with other possiblities including Brice Johnson, Deyonta Davis, and Cheick Diallo. |
17. Memphis: Wade Baldwin
Point Guard / 6-3 / Vanderbilt / Sophomore
14.1 ppg, 5.2 apg
Mike Conley potentially bolting in free agency, the Grizzlies will probably be looking for a point guard at their pick. While we view him as a bit of a reach here, he would offer a solid upside player at a posiiton of need. |
18. Detroit: Denzel Valentine
Small Forward / 6-6 / Michigan State / Senior
19.2 ppg, 7.5 rpg
Detroit's owner and Coach Tom Izzo are extremely tight, so aside from proximity there's a connection here. Also Van Gundy wants tough-nosed players and preferably ones that can come in and produce. Denzel's knees are a concern, but scouts feel a team in the late teens like Detroit could look past that and draft him anyway. |
19. Denver: Ivica Zubac
Center / 7-0 / Mega Leks (Serbia) / 1997
6.8 ppg, 3.0 rpg
The Nuggets already have a number of former Mega Leks centers on their roster (Jokic and Lauvergne), and Zubac has a chance to be better than all of them. He figures to go somewhere in this area as a long term, high potential draft and stash pick. |
20. Indiana: Malik Beasley
Shooting Guard / 6-5 / Florida State / Freshman
15.6 ppg, 5.3 rpg
Beasley has a bit of an alarming medical report after having a rod inserted into his leg and news that his other leg may also require a rod, with tibia issues. Regardless, teams don't seem to think he will slide too far. Indiana could land a potential steal with Beasley who could eventually supplant Monta Ellis, who is said to be avaialble in trade, at the 2-guard spot. |
21. Atlanta: Cheick Diallo
Power Forward / 6-9 / Kansas / Freshman
3.0 ppg, 2.5 rpg
Cheick is one of the players that Atlanta is said to be very high on. He may take a while to see the floor, but as he showed at the NBA combine, his length and motor gives him a lot of intrigue. If Atlanta is convinced that Al Horford will leave in free agency, they could target a more ready player such as Damian Jones or Diamond Stone. |
22. Charlotte: Damian Jones
Center / 7-0 / Vanderbilt / Junior
13.9 ppg, 6.9 rpg
Jones was one of the few players who got a clean bill of health on his medical reports, but he ended up tearing his pectoral muscle in a workout and is now out for the summer league and won't be back until training camp. Jones likely won't slide far despite the injury as he's an athletic big that can shoot it, a hot commodity in today's NBA. |
23. Boston: Brice Johnson
Power Forward / 6-9 / North Carolina / Senior
17.0 ppg, 10.4 rpg
Johnson is a guy who probably ends up in the early 20s and is a great value here. While he's a senior, he's one of the draft's premiere athletes. Boston has shown a solid ability to find talent later in the draft with players such as Jae Crowder in the second round. Johnson gets a late-lottery value, but his lack of strength and age have knocked him down a lot of team's boards. |
Center / 7-0 / Nevada-Las Vegas / Freshman
10.5 ppg, 8.7 rpg
Zimmerman is well liked by the Sixers and would provide solid depth to the frontcourt, particularly in the event of an Okafor trade. Some feel he may end up in the 15-20 range however. |
Shooting Guard / 6-5 / Saint Joseph’s / Junior
17.4 ppg, 7.8 rpg
The Clippers are one of the teams that are said to be very high on Bembry. His high-level athleticism and ability to facilitate would help when Chris Paul is on the bench. Ben Bentil is also considered a possibility here. |
Point Guard / 6-1 / Notre Dame / Junior
15.8 ppg, 4.7 apg
Jackson could become more of a vocal leader, but for a team searching for an identity, adding a traditional point guard to go along with the 6-foot-10 one they're likely to grab at No. 1 would fill a pressing need for them. |
27. Toronto: Thon Maker
Power Forward / 7-0 / Australia / 1997
–
Toronto likes length and athleticism and with International GM Masai Ujiri, Thon has both the African and Canadian connection. Maker could end up going higher, but his lack of experience and readiness might limit his draft ceiling. If Thon can add good weight and his legs hold up, he could end up being a steal at the end of the first round. |
28. Phoenix: Timothe Luwawu
Small Forward / 6-7 / KK Mega Leks (Serbia) / 1995
14.6 ppg, 4.8 rpg
Luwawu gives the Suns an athletic 3-and-D type of player to develop for the future. On tape, he looks like a lottery pick, but for those familiar with him, there are concerns about his attitude and feel for the game. He's a guy that will probably be more dependent than others on landing in the right situation to realize his potential. |
Power Forward / 6-9 / Estudiantes (Spain) / 1995
9.7 ppg, 5.7 rpg
Hernangomez is very well liked by scouts and ready to head over to the NBA next season. He gets glowing reviews for character and work ethic and word is the Spurs will gobble him up if he's here and they keep their pick. Philly is another potential landing spot for "Juancho". |
30. Golden State: Ante Zizic
Center / 6-11 / Cibona Zagreb (Croatia) / 1997
13.4 ppg, 8.0 rpg
After losing a heartbreaking Game 7 to Cleveland in the NBA Finals, it's obvious the Warriors need to add more toughness inside. Zizic is one of the more NBA ready players and could possibly provide some valuable minutes in the not-too-distant future. |
Key: (*) Standard salary for players selected with that pick in 2016-17.
